Premier League returns after the international break with a bang, as Tottenham host Liverpool in arguably the biggest game of the season so far. The Saturday lunch time match kicks off the Premier League this weekend, as the visitors will try to maintain their first place position in the table.

Unfortunately, due to delays on the stadium reconstruction, this will not be hosted at Tottenham’s new stadium, but instead Wembley will be the venue.

Home Team: Tottenham

tottenham hotspur betting.footballTottenham could be accused of being ‘typical Tottenham’ in their last Premier League match against Watford. After three straight victories, including an emphatic 3-0 win at Old Trafford, Tottenham were winning 1-0 at Watford aiming to keep up their 100% record. However, Watford came from behind to beat Tottenham for the first time in over 30 years. Therefore, football fans and pundits alike will start now asking questions whether Tottenham should have invested more in the summer, or this was just one of those days at the office for Spurs – it’s amazing what one bad result can do to the feeling around the club.

Credit must also be due though for Watford who themselves maintained their 100% record. Tottenham should be fully strengthened going into the match barring they don’t pick up any injuries from the international games, and they have Heung-min Son to come back after he won the Asia cup with South Korea. Will they be able to bounce back?

Away Team: Liverpool

LIVERPOOL FC BETTING.FOOTBALLLiverpool are sitting top of the pile, and despite there being more pressure on the team this year due to their big investments in the last 9 months, they are not showing any signs of that on the football pitch. Liverpool, who could be Manchester City’s closest challengers, have won four games from four, conceding just one goal courtesy of Alisson’s mistake in their last outing against Leicester.

That has to be the only blot on Liverpool’s campaign so far, and the fans will be in buoyant mood when heading to Wembley on Saturday morning. Mohammed Salah stole the show last season, but Sadio Mane is trying to make headlines for himself instead of being the supporting cast. He has scored the most goals this season (along with Mitrovic of Fulham), with four goals, averaging a goal in every 86 minutes.

Head to Head

In the corresponding fixture last year, Liverpool had a day to forget as Tottenham cruised to a 4-1 victory. At that time Tottenham were struggling to get to grips with Wembley being the stadium, but that curse was surely lifted when they battered Liverpool back in October last year.

In the reverse fixture, it was one of the games of the season when the sides met at Anfield and drew 2-2. Three goals, including a converted and missed penalty by Kane, in the last 10 minutes showcasing the Premier League at its absolute best. Prior to last season though, Tottenham haven’t had the best luck against Liverpool as they hadn’t beaten them since 2012 having failed to win in 9 attempts.

They’ll hope that last season they turned the screw, whereas Liverpool will be hoping that normal service will be resumed, and they’ll pick up at least a point at Spurs.

Betting Tips Tottenham Hotspur vs Liverpool

premier league lion betting.footballTottenham are 13/8 to win at home, and Liverpool are at 7/5, which suggests that betting on this match is like ‘flipping a coin’. A draw is the least likely outcome at 13/5. Both sides will deep down fancy their chances of getting the win here, so for them to cancel each other out might be the wisest option when it comes to betting. Cancelling each other out doesn’t need to be goalless though, and a score draw is probably more likely.

Tottenham and Liverpool have scored in every game this season, and Tottenham have scored 8 goals in their last two home matches in the league. Therefore, 2-2 (their most recent result), is looking good at 11/1.

If you want something sturdier, you can bet on the final result being a draw with both teams scoring at 3/1. My final tip if you have Liverpool down to continue their early season form, then be tempted for them to win either 3-2, 3-1, or 3-0 at 7/1.

The match outcome is far from predictable, but no one will expect this match to be a let-down for the spectators.
