Sevilla host Real Madrid at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán Stadium on Wednesday night, kicking off at 10:00pm local time. Sevilla always proves to be one of the trickiest grounds to go to, as Real Madrid will want to overcome a difficult obstacle this week to make sure they keep on Barcelona’s heels at the top of the table.

Home Team: Sevilla

Sevilla started off the season in a disappointing fashion, as they lost at home to Getafe, and lost the Seville derby against Real Betis as those were two key poor results in their first four league games. However, in the last week have managed to find their goal scoring touch back.

They just thumped Levante 6-2 away from home in their most recent La Liga fixture, and put five goals past Standard Liege in the Europa League last Thursday. Wissam Ben Yedder scored five goals on those two games, and new signing Andre Silva, from AC Milan, has managed to pop up with some goals so far this season too.

Those were just the results and key player performances Sevilla needed before heading into this clash against Los Blancos.

Away Team: Real Madrid

real madrid betting.footballReal Madrid bounced back from their previous La Liga disappointment when they only managed to get a draw away at Athletic Bilbao. However, a comprehensive win against Roma, and a tight win against Espanyol has surely put them team back into the winning mode. Marco Asensio was the player that made the difference in Real Madrid’s last fixture as his goal, eventually awarded after VAR, gave them the 1-0 victory.

As Real Madrid continue sharing the goals around, this will give manager Julen Lopetegui faith that they can replace the amount of goals that Ronaldo brought to them in the last 9 seasons. They will be wary of Sevilla’s threat in the next game though, and none more so than former Sevilla player Sergio Ramos who will be on his old turf. Which brings us to the head to head.

Head to Head

Real Madrid have a good record at home against Sevilla, but their away record has been appalling. Real Madrid have not enjoyed visiting Sevilla in recent seasons. Their last success came in 2015, and in the three recent league fixtures between the two hosted there, Sevilla have won on all three occasions, winning 3-2, 2-1 and 3-2 again.

The sides also met in the Copa del Rey in 2016, and even the visitors could only get a draw, 3-3 on that occasion. Even prior to 2015, Sevilla won at home in 2014, 2012, and 2009. Their once was a time where Real Madrid had earned back to back 6-2 wins, both in 2011, but those days seem a distant memory for travelling Real Madrid fans.

Predictions and Betting Tips Sevilla vs Real Madrid

Despite the impressive head to head, and recent form, Sevilla find themselves underdogs at 3/1. Real Madrid are at 3/4 favourites to get the three points and a draw is at 16/5. Usually, these games see a lot of goals, and rarely see less than 3 goals. Score lines such as 3-2, and even 2-6 have happened on more than one occasion in the last 7 years. For a home 3-2 victory it will be at 28/1, and a 6-2 away victory at 150/1.

Notwithstanding Real Madrid’s recent poor record at Sevilla, I expect them to come out on top in this fixture. A narrow win of 2-1 is most likely, and that is priced at 8/1. For that score line, but with Wissam Ben Yedder who is in a rich vein of form to score first is at a very reasonable 70/1.

Whilst that’s my top tip, I can still suggest, and hope, there will be goals like there usually is when the two sides meet – over 5.5 goals is at 5/1.
