It’s a huge clash in Italy on Saturday evening, as AC Milan host Lazio at the San Siro, kicking off at 8:30pm local time. The two teams are in contention for that illusive top four spot, that will take them to the Champions League next season.

Home Team: AC Milan

AC Milan currently hold that 4th spot despite a wretched run of form of late. Their last four matches have seen them only pick up one point from a possible 12, in a string of games which has seen them beaten by bitter rivals Inter Milan who are above them in the table. With 7 games to go, it should prove to be a nail-biter for the remainder of the season, as only three points separate five teams going for that 4th place.

In AC Milan’s last match, they faced Juventus, and despite going a goal ahead through striker Krzysztof Piątek, they were undone by two second half goals to lose. AC Milan manager Gennaro Gattuso will be pleased with his side’s efforts, and will hope that they can repeat that level of performance for the remaining games, and take AC Milan back to where they belong – the Champions League.

Away Team: Lazio

Lazio are in the same boat as AC Milan, as they come into this fixture off the back of a couple of really disappointing results. They were underdogs to claim a top four spot, but their win at the San Siro, this time against Inter Milan, put them in a fantastic position. However, they followed up that result with a loss at SPAL, and then salvaging a late draw at home to Sassuolo.

Lazio are currently in 7th, 3 points behind AC Milan, but they do have the advantage of playing a game less, so if they were to win that, they’d leapfrog into joint 4th. Therefore, this shows the importance of this clash, and it really is a six pointer in every sense. Ciro Immobile has scored 14 goals in Serie A this season, and a 15th here and it would be worth his weight in gold. Can Lazio win at the San Siro for the 2nd time in two weeks?

AC Milan vs Lazio Predictions and Betting Tips

It’s an unpredictable game to call, with the bookmakers putting AC Milan at 6/4 to win, with Lazio at 9/5, and a draw at 9/4. Therefore, any right call on this one will be able to pocket a fair bit of cash. I don’t want to sit on the fence, and I am going to back AC Milan to edge a tightly contested match 1-0, priced at 7/1. To boost your odds on that, you can add a first player to make it a Scorecast, and the player I’d choose is AC Milan striker Krzysztof Piątek, who will be looking to get a 3rd consecutive league goal. The odds of that happening is at a kind 28/1. I can’t see many goals, so backing there to be less than 1.5 goals at 9/4 seems excellent value.
