PSG host Lille at the Parc des Princes to kick-start the weekend of top European action, as the game kicks off on Friday night at 8:45pm local time. The match is a top of the table clash in Ligue 1, as first hosts second. PSG have won their opening 11 matches in the league, and at this rate will have the title secured by Christmas, whereas Lille have surprised many with their start, winning 8 of their 11 league matches.

Home Team: PSG

PSG won comfortably 2-0 at Marseille in their most recent fixture, and was arguably their toughest fixture on paper. It was Kylian Mbappe who broke the scoring for the visitors, not long after the hour mark, before Julian Draxler rounded off another win – the clubs eleventh straight win in Ligue 1 so far this season. PSG are miles ahead of every other team at the moment in France, but face a tough task of qualifying for the Champions League knockout stages. Di Maria was able to rescue their side to get an important 2-2 draw at home to Napoli. PSG sit behind Napoli and Liverpool in the group stages, and they face both of those teams in their next two matches. In their own league though, they are having no issues, but they now face a side who sits closest to them in the league, but most will expect PSG to make it 12 wins from 12. Incredible.

Away Team: Lille

Lille are the surprise team of the season, as they occupy 2nd place in the league, and only 8 points off top spot. Lille had survived relegation last season by the skin of their teeth, finishing in 17th place. Lille have only lost two matches, and drawn one game in their opening 11 matches. That sort of form will get them Champions League football, if they are able to maintain it. Unfortunately, PSG are in their own league this season, but a surprise win against PSG here would put them only 5 points behind, and maybe, just maybe, Lille could pose a slight title challenge. We have heard of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe for PSG, but the strike force of Lille have been banging in the goals all season, as Nicolas Pepe and Jonathan Bamba have scored 14 goals this season so far – seven apiece.

Head to Head

We have to go back to 2012, for the last time that Lille had won a match against PSG in any competition. Since then, the sides have met on 15 occasions with PSG running out victorious on 12 occasions. PSG have beaten Lille in their six most recent meetings home and away, and have won four of their last five matches at home. In fact, over the years, a draw has been hard to come by for Lille, and they haven’t actually won at Parce des Princes in the league since 1996. Not looking promising for the visitors.

Expert Predictions and Betting Tips

PSG are at 2/11 to get the expected victory here, with Lille at 14/1 to get a win. A draw is at 6/1. Despite being 2nd, Lille have been given odds similar to a relegation battling team, as PSG are so dominant. I expect PSG to get a win here, but choosing a score line can be tricky – but I am going to opt for a 3-1 victory at 17/2. If you feel that Lille may be the team to stop PSG from winning in the league, then you can back them at 3/1 with a ‘Double Chance’ bet. Betting on PSG to win won’t be getting you large sums of money, so it may be worth betting on them to win with both teams scoring which is at 5/4, or betting on them to win with a clean sheet at 21/20. If you want to be even riskier, then opt for them to win at a Goal Handicap of (-3) at 14/5.
