The main game in the Premier League this upcoming Sunday is between Tottenham and Newcastle, at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium, kicking off at 4:30pm local time. One team is clearly optimistic about this game, the hosts, whilst the visitors have started their campaign with two harrowing defeats.

Home Team: Tottenham Hotspur

By hook or by crook, or more specifically, VAR, earned Tottenham a point at the Etihad Stadium this past Saturday against Manchester City. Despite being totally dominated for the 90 minutes – and that’s no exaggeration – Tottenham still scored two well taken goals to remain undefeated from their first two league games. Harry Kane and Christian Eriksen will have had better games for Tottenham, as they couldn’t conjure up any sort of attacking momentum in the game. Thanks to the new rule, and in combination with VAR, Tottenham escaped with a draw which Mauricio Pochettino will be delighted with. With over a week to prepare for this game, Tottenham will be undoubtedly expected to win this match, but their opening game against Aston Villa will prove that there are no easy games in the Premier League. Well, actually, except maybe this one.

Away Team: Newcastle

There was no confidence from the fans prior to the season, so we shouldn’t be shocked that Newcastle have collected zero points from their opening two matches. In their first game, they huffed and puffed against Arsenal, but failed to create any clear cut chances as they lost 1-0. Following that, they visited newly promoted Norwich this past weekend, and we well and truly beaten 3-1, with Newcastle’s consolation goal coming in the final moments from Jonjo Shelvey. New signing Joelington, hasn’t adapted to the league just yet, and was brought off by manager Steve Bruce in the 2nd half. The club is not in a good place at the moment, and their expectation in this match will be to pray that they won’t be beaten heavily.

Head to Head

Tottenham have won the last four meetings in the Premier League, achieving doubles of Newcastle in the last two seasons. Newcastle last beat Tottenham in the final game of the 2015/2016 season, when Newcastle were actually relegated one week prior to the match, but surprisingly won 5-1 against a Spurs side that capitulated. In fact, it wrapped up the double for Newcastle that season, who had won at Tottenham 2-1 earlier in the season. Newcastle did have a spell of a few years where they continuously won at Tottenham’s old White Hart Lane, including wins in 2013, 2014 and 2015. This will be the first time they have met each other at the new Tottenham Hotspur stadium.

Predictions and Betting Tips

Tottenham are at 1/4 to get the victory here, with Newcastle at 11/1 to win, or 19/4 to draw. To compare with another game, Manchester City are more likely to win away at the talented Bournemouth side than Spurs are to win here, which I disagree with. Tottenham should absolutely dominate this game from start to finish, and I anticipate them winning by a huge margin here. My score line prediction would be a 4-0 home win, priced at 10/1. I’d back Harry Kane and the returning Son Heung-min to both score in the game at 5/1.

To increase earnings on a Spurs win, you can back them to be leading by a 3-0 score line at half time at a generous 12/1. If you are looking for the high risk bets, then you can back Newcastle in some capacity by betting on them to score 2+ goals at 11/2, or even backing them to score first at 10/3.

Finally, 4-0 is my gut reaction, but backing there to be a 6-0 win at 50/1 sounds intriguing, so that’s my tip for the tipsters!
