Manchester City welcome Leicester to the Etihad Stadium on Bank Holiday Monday, kicking off at 8:00pm local time. The hosts are just two matches away from retaining their Premier League title, as they face tricky opposition, who themselves have a top seven position to play for.

Home Team: Manchester City

Manchester City’s desire to keep onto their Premier League crown cannot be questioned, as they have been relentless in the title run-in. Once they were defeated by Newcastle at the end of January, they could have been 9 points behind Liverpool, but they have won every game since, totalling up to 12 victories, and another two more will see them as champions.

In an exhausting title race, we are coming to the bitter end now, and Manchester City’s perseverance and incredibly strong mentality, has been tested to the extreme. They are just one point ahead of Liverpool, who themselves have been terrific in this compelling title bout.

Star striker Raheem Sterling was recently awarded the Young Player of the Year in the PFA awards, but will be disappointed that he didn’t win PFA Player of the year, which was won by Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk. Sterling wouldn’t mind a jot though, as long as he gets his hands on a Premier League medal in the coming weeks.

Away Team: Leicester City

Leicester City come into this match as one of the most in-form teams in the Premier League, as new manager Brendan Rodgers has had an outstanding impact.

Despite losing his first game in charge of the club at Watford, he has managed to stay undefeated since, picking up a lot of victories including their most resounding one against Arsenal this past Sunday. Arsenal did have 10 men for 50 minutes in the match, but Leicester were dominant from the first whistle, and fully deserved their 3-0 victory over the Gunners.

Jamie Vardy and James Maddison were causing havoc throughout, and they are supported by a strong core of players, with Harry Maguire, Jonny Evans at the back, and Wilfred Ndidi and Youri Tielemans in midfield.

Leicester will hope to cause an upset here, and they certainly have enough firepower to do so. Will there be another twist in the title race?

Head to Head

Manchester City have the better record against Leicester, particularly in recent times, as they have won 5 of the last 8 Premier League meetings between the two teams, but it isn’t all one-way traffic.

The sides have played twice already this season at Leicester, with the Carabao Cup game ending in a draw, which Manchester City eventually won on penalties, and then again in the Premier League which Leicester won 2-1 despite going behind. Pep Guardiola also lost his first ever meeting with Leicester back in 2016, when they were badly beaten 4-2.

Leicester last beat Manchester City at the Etihad in the 2015/2016 season, when they went on to be champions. In this respective fixture from last season, Manchester City were dominant 5-1 winners.

Predictions and Betting Tips

Manchester City are at 1/7 to get the victory, with Leicester priced at 14/1. For the sides to draw, which would still prompt huge cheers from Liverpool, that is at 13/2.

Leicester will likely play an open game, but it may play into Manchester City’s hands, so I will back a home narrow 2-1 win at 13/2. To back Manchester City to win with both teams scoring, that is priced at 11/8.

For goal scorers, Sergio Aguero will be in the hunt for a top scorers medal, so I’d back him to score a brace at 14/5, otherwise, back both him and Sterling to score in 90 minutes at 21/10. For the visitors, James Maddison is at 6/1 to score at any time and that gives really good value as he gets on the end of many chances.

Finally, for the tipsters, you can back Manchester City to win from behind to show championship spirit at 8/1, or alternatively, back Leicester to win from behind, as they did in the reverse fixture, at an incredible 40/1.
