Leicester City host Chelsea on the final match day of the season, kicking off on Sunday at 3:00pm local time. Leicester can reach as high as 8th position in the league, with Chelsea looking to cement a 3rd placed spot.

Home Team: Leicester City

Leicester City have looked a very outfit in recent months under the stewardship of Brendan Rodgers, who has brought more guile and confidence to their way of playing. Despite losing his first game in charge, Leicester have been in terrific form over the course of the last couple of months, and were narrowly beaten by Manchester City on Monday night.

They pushed the potential champions all the way, and were beaten by a wonder strike. Substitute Kelechi Iheanacho missed a sitter towards the end of the game that could have stolen a point for Leicester.

Brendan Rodger’s side will want to finish the season strongly, and if he is able to keep the majority of his players, there is no real reason why they cannot aim higher than the 8th position they are currently occupying.

Away Team: Chelsea

Chelsea have achieved a top four place in the Premier League, and it’s a task that didn’t look possible throughout the last few months. Inconsistency has been their Achilles heel, failing to go on a run of good form since the turn of the year.

However, in this last month, they have been able to step up, when others have faltered, and have gone mathematically clear of Arsenal and Manchester United, whilst leapfrogging Tottenham into 3rd place. Chelsea are fighting for a place in the Europa League final, so if they were to win that, as well as a top 3 position in the Premier League, it should be considered a very strong season.

Eden Hazard, who is so often considered one of the best players in the Premier League, looks to be going to Real Madrid in the summer if the transfer speculation is correct, so therefore this may be his last appearance for Chelsea in this league. Will he make a big impact and get a few goals on the final match day?

Head to Head

Chelsea have been utterly dominant over Leicester since the turn of the millennium, as they have won 13 out of the last 17 meetings between the two sides. However, Leicester have had more success in recent seasons, including their most recent encounter back in December, when Leicester had won 1-0 at Stamford Bridge.

Leicester’s only win at home against Chelsea since 2001 was in their title winning campaign in the 2015/2016 season – Jose Mourinho’s last game before he was sacked as Chelsea manager. Chelsea have won seven out of their last 8 visits to Leicester, including a 2-1 win on their last visit.

Predictions and Betting Tips

It’s a tight match to call, with Leicester at 9/5 to win, with Chelsea at 7/5. A draw is priced at 5/2. Personally, with Leicester looking continuously impressive, and Chelsea having to play a key Europa League match on Thursday, I’d believe opting for a home win is where the value is.

They don’t have a particularly good record against Chelsea, but this Leicester side recently dispatched Arsenal at home, and went toe-to-toe with Manchester City. My score line prediction would be 2-1 to Leicester at 9/1, or my 2nd option would be to back a 1-1 draw at 6/1.

Eden Hazard is due to score for the visitors, and I would back Jamie Vardy to get a goal for the hosts, and you can back them both at 9/2. Finally, for other good value bets, you can back on both teams to score in the 2nd half at 15/8, or take a chance on it being a goal fest, by backing there to be more than 4.5 goals at 7/2.
