5. Chelsea

The team that finished fifth last season and lost World Cup Golden Glove achiever as well, might just do well to retain the same position on the table. Thibaut Courtois is replaced by the Spanish youngster Kepa Arrizabalaga and they have added some midfield power in the squad as well with Jorginho and Mateo Kovacic, but the fears are that this might not work for the blues.

4. Arsenal

Arsenal finished 6th in the last season but now the new-comers Lucas Torreira and Bernd Leno may give the team a bit of lift. The Greek centre back Sokratis Papastathopoulos is also a good signing and he could potentially add to the improvement of Arsenal’s defense. Having said that, these all signings are quite moderate and nobody is thought to make a turn-around impact on where the gunners will finish. A bit of improvement will be needed but they can make it to fourth after that.

3. Manchester United

They came back quite nicely in the later phase of the last season but if they want to keep the same position this time as well they will need to perform better than the last time. Was Diogo Dalot worth signing or can Fred can add some more to their mid field, are some popping questions. But if the answers are yes, then they can have a good season and a 3rd spot finish.

2. Manchester City

So remarkable were City in the last season that they might have thought for once,
‘Do they really need a signing?’
But without Fernandinho they had to find his replacement but were not visibly successful. Riyad Mahrez can help improve their already ominous looking attack, but defense is where the issues might appear this time and their defense might not allow them to defend their title.

1. Liverpool

Pace of Sadio Mane, quality of Muhamed Salah, and skills of Roberto Firmino were already up in the sleeves of Jurgen Klopp. He had goal-keeping issues that are viewed as addressed by the signing of Alisson. Xerdan Shaqiri, Keita and Fabinho have presented him with a side that if plays to its potential can start a new era in Liverpool’s footballing history. They have almost all the bases covered and are genuine title contenders, now what left is some application.

Other notable mentions

Fulham are a newly promoted club but their signings of over £100 million indicate that they have some high aims this time around. And the signings are all quite worthy, most notably Joe Bryan will surely strengthen their squad to compete at top flight. Leicester City would be hoping of a top 5 finish at least and the summer signings for them were also quite useful.

Jamie Vardy’s new deal with the club could prove crucial. With Christian Eriksen and Harry Kane staying with the Spurs, they thought they needed no signings this summer. It’s a confident decision, yet can be a fatal one!
