Nice will stride to be the first team to stop PSG this season in Ligue 1 as the visitors have won all of their opening seven matches. The two teams face off at the Allianz Riviera stadium at 5:15pm local time on Saturday.

Home Team: Nice

Nice manager Patrick Vieira will be disappointed so far with his side’s inconsistencies so far this season. After finishing 8th in the league last season, many had expected them to be challenging for the Champions League places this year. Out of the 7 matches this year, they have won three, drawn one and lost three.

Their low point of the season so far was losing at home 4-0 to Dijon FCO, but they then followed that with a great win at Lyon, just clearly demonstrating their unreliable start to the season. Nice will want to continue from their labouring win at Nantes during the week, but knowing that they are up against the hardest opposition, they know they have to raise their game and try to have any chance of springing a huge surprise on the French leaders.

Away Team: PSG

Aside from PSG’s lacklustre performance against Liverpool in the Champions League, it’s been business as usual for the French League leaders, and current champions. From the opening 7 matches, all which have been wins, they have already amassed 24 goals in those games, which averages at 3.4 goals per game. Manager Thomas Tuchel often plays very open attacking football, as he tries to fit the likes of Di Maria, Neymar, Cavani and Mbappe all into the same team, and all are scoring freely for the club. Even Maxim Choupo-Moting (remember him Stoke fans?), has been able to score his first goal for the club.

Within the French League, they can play this open and expansive football, but as it proved at Anfield, they are there for the taking against the bigger opposition in the Champions League. For domestic matters though, they will seek their 8th consecutive victory, and keep their already healthy lead at the top of the table.

Head to Head

In their last eleven meetings, PSG been dominant winning on 9 occasions, with Nice getting the sole victory in 2017, and there being one draw in the year before. There was a time when it wasn’t so comfortable for the French champions. From 2007 to 2011, Nice had won four home matches in a row against PSG, but since the big money takeover of PSG, it comes as no surprise that PSG changed their fortune when travelling to the south of France. PSG won at Nice last year 2-1, with Dani Alves getting a late winner, and also won three years in a row from 2014 to 2016.

Predictions and Betting Tips

Nice are at 15/2 to win the match, with PSG as overwhelming favourites at 3/10. A draw is priced at 9/2. Nothing is expected to change here, and I expect PSG to win this game in comfortable fashion. Nice’s impressive performance against Lyon will need to be replicated in order for them to stand any chance.

My tip would be to bet on PSG to win this match 2-0 which is at 6/1. As PSG have done in a couple of games already this season, they have won matches from a losing position, so it may be worth betting on them to win from behind at 8/1. Nice are not likely to win the match, but if you think they have some slight chance against PSG, then it would be wise for you to bet them to win one half, and that is at 13/5. For PSG to continue their 3+ goals a game average, you can bet on that happening at EVENS.
