Struggling Monaco will host PSG on Sunday evening at the Stade Louis II, kicking off at 9:00pm local time. The last two winners of the French League go head to head, as both have had a huge contrasts in seasons so far. Monaco are 19th in the league table, and a huge 29 points behind PSG who are running away with the league.

Home Team: Monaco

Thierry Henry was appointed to replace Leanardo Jardim a month ago to bring stability back to the club which has gone from highs of winning Ligue 1 in 2017, to facing potential relegation this season. Unfortunately, he has lost four of his opening five matches, and drawing the other. In midweek, they lost 4-0 at home to Club Brugge, which knocks them out of the Champions League, and even the scant consolation of Europa League looks in jeopardy. Monaco were champions just two years ago with the likes of Bernando Silva, Kylian Mbappe, Fabinho, Lemar, Mendy and more in their ranks. They have sold their best players, and have been unable to replace them and know the club is in a huge crisis. Thierry Henry has an impossible task to steer this ship back in the right direction, but gaining a positive result on Sunday night might be a turning point.

Away Team: PSG

PSG have won 12 out 12 so far this season, comfortably beating every side that has tried to match them. In recent weeks, they have had tougher fixtures on paper against the likes of Lille, Lyon and Marseille, but still they were never under threat and had won all of them convincingly. In European football, they are involved in a highly competitive group, where qualification for them looks difficult as Napoli and Liverpool are above them in the group. Failing to progress from that would make this season a failure, despite their mightily impressive form in the French League. PSG have been lethal in front of goal, and Napoli on Tuesday evening were the first team to prevent PSG from scoring two goals this season, and also preventing both Neymar and Mbappe from not scoring – a tough feat for any team.

Head to Head

It is grim reading to Monaco fans as PSG have been dominant in this fixture, despite Monaco winning the league in the 2016/2017 season. Even then, Monaco had only beaten PSG once out of their four meetings that season. In the last 7 meetings, PSG have been victorious on every occasion, scoring 27 goals and only conceding four. Some of those wins include score lines such as 7-1, 4-0, 5-0 and 4-1. Monaco did beat PSG in that title winning season, 3-1 at home, but that is their only home win against PSG since 2009.

Bet Predictions and Betting Tips

Monaco are at 9/1 to get a hugely unlikely result on Sunday, with PSG at 1/4 to win. A draw is at 11/2. Looking at the history and the form, you have to back an away win here. To make some big earnings of this fixture, it would be wise to bet on PSG to get a lot of goals, so backing them to win 4-1 at 12/1 would be my top prediction.

Kylian Mbappe will be on his old stomping ground, as he continues to make himself the league’s top scorer, currently having scored 11 goals from the first 13 matches. He scores every 56 minutes that he plays, so backing him to score at any point at 8/11 seems low but reasonable. If you want to back the underdogs to score first, then you can bet on Radamel Falcao to score first at 17/2 for Monaco. For boosting your earnings, it may be worth considering betting on PSG to win from behind, which is priced at 15/2.
