Liverpool are bidding to win 6 consecutive Premier League games as they host Southampton on Saturday afternoon, kicking off at 3:00pm local time. Liverpool will go top, temporarily at least, if they win this match and further solidify their title credentials.

Home Team: Liverpool

LIVERPOOL FC BETTING.FOOTBALLEverything Liverpool have touched this season, has turned into gold. In the week leading up to this fixture they have defeated Tottenham at Wembley before beating, well dominating, European powerhouses PSG at Anfield on Tuesday. Six wins from all competitions, after an impressive pre-season, a second-to-none summer transfer window, it all looks rosy for Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool team.

The last time they won the first five league games of the season was back in 1990 – the year they most recently won the top league in English football. At that time, Liverpool had 18 league titles, but since that year Manchester United have been the dominant side, winning 13 league titles to take themselves to 20 titles.

With strikers such as Mane, Salah, Firmino and even Sturridge who will try and not injure himself waking up on Saturday, they have a menacing attack that can certainly propel them to a long overdue title. Can they continue their phenomenal form?

Away Team: Southampton

southampton fcAfter narrowly surviving the drop last season, no one had anticipated that Southampton would surprise anyone this season and make a charge towards the top half of the table – and that has been proven right. However, the Saints fans cannot be too discouraged from their team’s performances this season, as they have showed a lot of fight and only lost twice out of five in two very close matches.

In their most recent outing, they did blow a 2-0 lead against rivals Brighton, with the equaliser being a last minute penalty. Had they won that, they would have had 7 points from their first 5 games and would have been 10th. Danny Ings has scored three goals for the club in their opening five matches, but unfortunately, as he is on loan from Liverpool, he’ll be unable to play this fixture. Can Southampton do something that even PSG couldn’t do, and stop the free flowing Reds?

Head to Head

Despite there usually being quite a distance in the league between the two teams, Southampton can boast a fairly healthy record against Liverpool. Since 2012, the sides have met 15 times in all competitions with Southampton winning on 5 occasions, drawing three times with Liverpool winning the remaining seven. It’s hardly domination from Liverpool, so they’ll know they have their work cut out this weekend.

It has to be said though, that those Southampton wins were all at home barring one at Anfield in the League Cup. They haven’t won in the league at Anfield since 1998. Liverpool did earn a double of Southampton last season in comfortable fashion, winning at Anfield 3-0, and winning at St Mary’s 2-0.

My Predictions and Betting Tips

Liverpool are at 2/9 to make it a magnificent seven in a row. The odds of Southampton to win is priced at 12/1 with 5/1 being a draw. It’s hard to back against the Reds at this moment of time, and it’s a question of how many, and not if. I reckon they will score at least 3 goals (10/11) and make easy work of Southampton.

A score line of 3-0 is at 6/1. Southampton managed to get a 1-1 draw back in 2015, and that is priced at a generous 11/1. Mane is playing against his old club, and he would be the ideal player to back to open up the scoring, at 4/1.

With Danny Ings exclusion, Charlie Austin would be the person to back for the away side, and he is at 12/1 to get the first goal.
