Leicester City vs Liverpool Premier League

To kick-start this weekend’s Premier League action, we pay a visit to the King Power stadium to see if the visitors Liverpool, can continue their 100% winning start to the season. Leicester City themselves, are coming off back-to-back victories since their opening day defeat to Manchester United. This will prove to be a tough test for Liverpool, who are leading the pack at the moment, and pundits and fans alike are tipping them to be serious challengers for the league this season.

Home Team: Leicester City

Claude Puel will have been very pleased with his side’s start to the season. Two wins, and evenly contested defeat at Old Trafford would have been what many fans were hoping for, despite losing Riyad Mahrez this summer. They knew a long time ago that their star performer over the last 4 years was due to leave the club this summer and all Leicester City fans would have been fearing the worst after seeing their star defender Harry McGuire’s superb World Cup performances.

Those performances had attracted the likes of Manchester United, but Puel had kept the majority of his squad, and bolstered it with the likes of Ricardo Perreira, James Maddison and Jonny Evans. Leicester City will hope to challenge for European places this season in the league, and getting a result against Liverpool will be some statement.

Away Team: Liverpool

LIVERPOOL FC BETTING.FOOTBALLLiverpool are flying at the top of the Premier League, with 7 goals scored, and more importantly, no goals have been conceded. Liverpool’s major concern in recent seasons was the inability to keep clean sheets, and see out tough fixtures when they had a comfortable lead.

With their big money January signing Virgil Van Dyke settling in, young wing backs in Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andrew Robertson maturing game by game, and Allison, their £67mil goalkeeper pulling out crucial saves – their defence is starting to match their attack. Three wins, with two reasonably easy home fixtures, and a banana skin at Crystal Palace surpassed, they know travel to Leicester knowing that it will be difficult to make it four wins out of four.

Head to Head

premier league lion betting.footballOf all time, Liverpool have edged this fixture with 47 wins compared to Leicester’s 39. Since Leicester were promoted to the Premier League back in 2014, and somehow winning it 2016, they have managed to win this fixture twice, out of the four. One of those wins were in a title winning season, with Jamie Vardy scoring an incredibly half volley from 30 yards, and they also won the following season 3-1, the subsequent match following Claudio Ranieri’s sacking.

Liverpool have had the better at Anfield, but have always found it tricky when visiting the King Power Stadium, and had lost three in a row including those two Premier League matches mentioned and a League Cup tie. However, Liverpool did win their on their last trip there though, in a thrilling 3-2 match, and we hope for the same this Saturday.

Betting Tips and Predictions Leicester City vs Liverpool

Liverpool are 4/9 to continue their winning start to the Premier League season, whereas the hosts are at 11/2. If you cannot call this either way, then a draw is at 7/2. Liverpool do look a real threat this year, and are looking formidable at the back, but Leicester City will have the fans to back them, but statistics are not on their side.

In their last 11 home fixtures in all competitions, they have only won just the three times, with one of them being this season’s home win against Wolves – which they were unfortunate to win. I think that Liverpool will have too much for Leicester, but they won’t keep a clean sheet this time out. Liverpool to win 2-1 is at 7/1 and whilst that would be a ‘safer’ bet, I really like the look of a 2-2, priced at 16/1.

As you can tell, I expect them to be some goals in this game, so over 2.5 goals is at 8/13 and if you are feeling chancy, then bet on there to be 3 or more goals in the second half at 11/4.
