Last season’s Champions and runners-up go ahead to ahead, as Juventus face off against Napoli at 6:00pm local time on Saturday. This year’s campaign has started how last year’s finished, as once again Juventus and Napoli occupy those first two spots in the league.

Will Juventus make a statement insisting their dominance by beating their closest challengers? Or will Napoli win back to back games at the Allianz Stadium?

Home Team: Juventus

Juventus have won all opening six matches in Serie A this season, as well as their Champions League success against Valencia albeit with ten men for over an hour in that game. They are simply the irresistible force at the moment in European football, and the only team to win every game in all competitions across all the top leagues in Europe.

Cristiano Ronaldo has put his sending off behind him as he managed to get the crucial goal against Frosinone last weekend. Juventus then had a routine victory over Bologna on Wednesday, with Argentina striker Dybala getting the first goal of the match, just showing the sheer depth of quality Juventus have at their disposal.

Undoubtedly, this is the biggest test for Juventus, and they’ll want to avenge for their defeat to Napoli back in May.

Away Team: Napoli

Carlo Ancelotti was put in charge of Napoli to replace Maurizio Sarri in the summer, and had the sizeable task to get Napoli to perform better in the Champions League as well as challenge his old club, Juventus, to the Serie A title.

Aside from a largely disappointing match against Sampdoria when they lost 3-0 at the beginning of the month, Napoli have managed to get their season back on track, winning three league games on the bounce. They have had to overcome tricky opposition, beating AC Milan, Fiorentina, Torino and Parma in their four most recent wins.

Napoli will hope that main striker Lorenzo Insigne will continue his run of form, and trouble the usually formidable back line at Juventus, as the Argentine striker has scored 5 goals already this season in the league.

Head to Head

Juventus and Napoli have had equal amount of success against each other in recent fixtures. In last season’s campaign, each team won on their opponents’ home turf with the score line of 1-0. Napoli still had a slight chance of winning the league when they defeated them at the Allianz stadium back in April, but then managed to draw their following games to gift Juventus the title.

Despite the win for Napoli on that occasion last year, before that, you’ll have to go back to 2009 for their most recent previous win in Turin against Juventus, and had endured six defeats on the bounce on their travels.

Predictions and Betting Tips

Juventus are strong favourites to keep their winning run going at 8/11. For Napoli to repeat their success at the Allianz Arena back in May, is at 4/1, and a draw is at 13/5. Despite Napoli’s resurgence since losing to Sampdoria, I don’t see them having enough power in their team to stop Juventus in this game.

I think that Juventus will come out top in a tight game, winning 2-0 (7/1). If you want to boost your earnings, then back Cristiano Ronaldo to score first in a 2-0 win, at 18/1. Cristiano Ronaldo and Lorenzo Insigne are the two star attackers for each side, and for them to both get on the score sheet, it’s priced at 7/2.

I don’t expect there to be many goals in the match, so it’s no surprise that betting on there being less than 3.5 goals is at a underwhelming 1/3. With both sides only conceding one goal each in their last four games though, it looks fairly likely to return a winning bet.
