It’s the first of two FA Cup semi-finals as Manchester City and Brighton meet at Wembley on Saturday, kicking off at 5:30pm local time. Will Manchester City go one step closer to securing a quadruple? Or will it be Brighton’s make their first FA Cup final appearance since 1983?

Home Team: Manchester City

Manchester City already have two Wembley victories already this season, both against Chelsea, as they won the Community Shield and the Carabao Cup. Pep Guardiola will now be preparing them for a 3rd time in the semi-final, to book a 4th appearance in the FA Cup final at the end of May. Pep Guardiola does have fond memories of this stadium, but its undeniable that the only time that he is lost here is at the semi-final stage of the FA Cup to Arsenal, just two seasons ago.

Manchester City still have a realistic dream of winning the quadruple, and are overwhelming favourites to secure the FA Cup, with the other three teams in the competition not having a rich pedigree of winning trophies. Nonetheless, Manchester City will not take anything for granted on Saturday, and will likely pick a very strong team, from an almost completely available squad for their season run-in. Wins against Welsh sides Newport and Swansea in recent rounds have seen Manchester City qualify for this stage. Can they book a place in the final? Or will their quadruple hunt come to an abrupt and shocking end?

Away Team: Brighton

Brighton are still not safe in the Premier League this season, as their form in the 2nd half of the season has been fairly abysmal. The reason for their downward spiral in the league could be due to their fantastic FA Cup run. Manager Chris Hughton will know that his team are capable of making history here at Brighton, and whilst a couple of wins in the league can guarantee Premier League football for next season, two wins in the FA Cup will create memories that will last a lifetime.

Brighton have had a hard run to the semi-final, as they were pushed to a replay against West Brom in the fourth round, Millwall to penalties in the quarter finals, as well as beating Derby and Bournemouth in tight games in the other rounds. No task comes harder than Manchester City though, and the fans will enjoy the day out at Wembley, and will be hoping for a minor miracle.

Head to Head

The sides have met in the FA Cup twice in their history, with both matches ending in emphatic victories. Way back in 1924, Manchester City won in Brighton 5-1, but Brighton managed to get revenge by inflicting a 4-0 win over Manchester City in 1983 – the year in which they got to the final. In the Premier League this season, Manchester City won their home fixture comfortably 2-0, and the sides will meet again on the final day of the season. This may not be the last critical game between the two sides this season.

Expert Predictions and Betting Tips

[geot exclude_country=”US,CA” ]bet now betting on football[/geot] Manchester City are at 1/8 to get the victory, with Brighton at 20/1. For the sides to draw, which will then mean extra time and potentially penalties, that is at 7/1. You can also bet on the teams to qualify, with Manchester City almost dead-certs at 1/33, with Brighton at 10/1. It’s hard to see Brighton keep out Manchester City, so I am expecting a big win for the side from Manchester. I predict a 4-0 win, priced at 7/1. You can back Sergio Aguero and Raheem Sterling to get on the scoresheet at 4/1.

[geot country=”US,CA” ]bet now betting on football[/geot] To win big on this, you can back Manchester City to only win by one goal at 7/2, to score 5+ goals at 4/1, and also by correctly predicting the time of the first goal – I’d back Brighton to keep their opponents out until the 30th minute mark, so betting on the first goal to be between minute 31-40 at 6/1. Finally, if you are feeling lucky, or an adamant Brighton fan, back them to score 2+ goals at a generous 12/1. Even if they were to lose 6-2, you’d still be bagging the money!
