Betting Tips for this weekend’s action across top European leagues – October 20th to October 22nd

The international break has finished, and now we can shift out attention to the domestic leagues, as we have many games to look forward to. First plays second in La Liga as Barcelona host Sevilla, Jose Mourinho will go back to his old stomping ground as Manchester United travel to Chelsea and also we see the great Milan derby take place on Sunday evening. Lots of matches, and here are my top three accumulator tips for the weekend, and I hope they are successful as my predictions from last weekend.

‘This is end to end stuff’

This quote is often used by commentators who are describing matches that are often open with both teams playing expansive, and therefore the football match is being transformed into a basketball match you’re likely to see in NBA. It tends to happen when the football is really good, or both teams are incapable of keeping possession of the ball. In these type of matches, we are expecting to see many goals, due to the influx of chances that are being created. Therefore, in the following matches, I would tip on there to be more than 3.5 goals in the match and to be crackers.

Match 1 – Chelsea vs Manchester United

Chelsea have opted to play attacking football in all of their games this season, and will fancy themselves of going at Manchester United’s backline. Manchester United must learn their best form of defence is attack, so if they decide to go gung-ho, we could be in for a classic.

Match Bet: Over 3.5 goals at 2/1.

Match 2 – Stuttgart vs Borussia Dortmund

I add this match to the list due to the away side’s involvement. No matter who they face, they tend to put on some silky football and create many chances to score. Their attacking philosophy makes them weak at the back, and despite Dortmund scoring 15 goals in their last three matches, they have still conceded five. Either way, expect some goals in this one and hopefully Dortmund keep that trend of over 3.5 goals per game for a fourth consecutive match, (well, it’s actually been over 5.5 in the last three).

Match Bet: Over 3.5 goals at 6/4

Match 3 – Arsenal vs Leicester

This fixture opened up the Premier League last season, and it was a 4-3 end to end cracker. The teams have also been involved in some other classics along the years have seen 3.5 or more goals scored in the game including one that was 5-2 to Arsenal, so I am hoping that they can add greater value to this bet.

Match Bet: Over 3.5 goals at 6/5

Bet Summary: You bet on three matches to have more than three goals, either individually shown with the odds above, or as an accumulator at 16/1. We just want goals!

‘The 12th Man’

As we know in football, using home advantage is critically important in football, as some clubs have a vastly greater home record than they do on their travels. The players will be accustomed to the pitch, and less travelling times are a factor, but the biggest factor is the encouragement provided from the fans to deliver that extra 10%. Professional players playing away from home feel like they are playing against a 12th man and they can barely hear themselves think in a football match, so for the following bet, I am urging you to back the home team. I will not choose ‘obvious home wins’ in this bet (like Manchester City or Real Madrid), as I want you to risk more to boost your earnings.

Match 1 – Bournemouth vs Southampton

Bournemouth have made themselves very tricky opposition this year, particularly at the Vitality Stadium, as they have collected 10 points from a possible 12. The stadium is the smallest in the Premier League but the fans manage to generate a fantastic atmosphere, and it has helped them beat Crystal Palace, Leicester and Cardiff so far this season. The odds of a home win are quite generous.

Match Bet: Home win at 21/20

Match 2 – Borussia Monchengladbach vs FC Mainz

Borussia Monchengladbach have hosted Schalke 04, Bayer Leverkusen and Eintracht Frankfurt to their stadium this season, and none of them have been able to pick up a point or even come close to it. Those fixtures on paper were more difficult, so surely they will have enough to secure their fourth consecutive home victory in front of their fans?

Match Bet: Home win at 6/10

Match 3 – Fiorentina vs Cagliari

Fiorentina have been mightily impressive at home this season, winning all four of their home matches collecting a maximum of 12 points. Their away record has been disappointing though as they have only picked up one from a possible 12. You see the difference a 12th man makes? Fiorentina will feel that have a great chance of getting a 5th straight home victory.

Match Bet: Home win at 4/7

Match 4 – Hearts vs Aberdeen

Top of the table Hearts have been excellent at home and away this season. They remain undefeated after only dropping two points at home so far this season, and one of their three wins was against the champions Celtic, proving how formidable they can be at home. The odds are generous for Hearts to continue their impressive form at home to a side who has a mixed away record.

Match Bet: Home win at 7/5

Match 5 – Brentford vs Bristol City

Brentford have been in excellent form so far this season, finding themselves just one place of the play-off places, and the reason they are in with a shout is due to their home form. They have collected 18 points this season from their opening 12 matches, and 14 of those points have been at home – where they remain undefeated.

Match Bet: Home win at 8/11

Bet Summary: You can bet on all home teams to win in these five fixtures individually, but to maximise your earnings and add them all to an accumulator. Betting on all five outcomes will give you odds of about 20/1. Not bad for 5 teams which near perfect home records so far this season.

‘Strikers in red hot form’

My final accumulator today will pick out some players that have been in excellent goal scoring form prior to the international break, as well as players who are always a safe bet in backing to get some goals for their club. Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are obvious names that come to the discussion when discussing players who are destined to get a goal, but let’s add a couple more to boost your earnings.

Players 1 and 2 – Cristiano Ronaldo and Krzysztof Piatek

Juventus are at home to Genoa on Saturday, and many will expect them to win, and to get a few goals in the process. Cristiano Ronaldo has scored three goals in recent fixtures, and will surely look to add more to his tally on Saturday. As for the slightly unknown, Krzysztof Piatek, he is the top goal scorer in Serie A at the moment with 9 goals, so would be foolish to not consider him too in this match.

Match Bet: Cristiano Ronaldo and Krzysztof Piatek to score at any time in Juventus vs Genoa at 3/1

Players 3 and 4 – Neymar and Kylian Mbappe

Paris St Germain host Amiens SC on Saturday, and the front three will look to continue their rich vein of form in front of goal. The two I have highlighted are Neymar and Kylian Mbappe who both sit on the top goal scorers list with 8 goals from 8 games so far. Therefore, to follow the pattern, they must surely score again.

Match Bet: Neymar and Mbappe to score at any time vs Amiens SC at 11/5

Players 5 and 6 – Mauro Icardi and Gonzalo Higuain

On Sunday evening Milan will stand still as AC take on Inter Milan, and the two star strikers have started to bang the goals in for their club. Both Argentine strikers, Icardi of Inter, and Higuain of AC, will want make their mark on this important fixture, so backing on them both to score maybe the best strategy here.

Match Bet; Mauro Icardi and Gonzalo Higuain to score at any time in Inter Milan vs AC Milan at 4/1

Bet Summary: In total, you are betting on six players to all score a goal in the selected three matches. You can bet individually as you see the odds above, but for an accumulator, you add them all together to boost winnings significantly. All 6 players to score is at 70/1.
