Week 13 Preview – Denver Broncos (5-6) at Cincinnati Bengals (5-6)

The Denver Broncos will face the Cincinnati Bengals in a matchup between two teams that are currently on the outside of the playoffs and will need a win this Sunday to keep their playoff hopes alive in the AFC. The Denver Broncos are on a two-game winning streak and will look to gain a much-needed road victory. On the other side, the Cincinnati Bengals have lost their last three games and need to turn their season around if they hope to compete for the playoffs.

Denver Broncos Offense

The Denver Broncos surprisingly defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers on the road and will look to continue that positive momentum against a struggling Cincinnati Bengals team. QB Case Keenum only completed 15 out of 28 pass attempts for 197 yards and two touchdowns, but it was just enough to overcome the Steelers last week. WR Emmanuel Sanders was his favorite target, as he caught seven passes for 86 yards and a touchdown. RB Phillip Lindsay also had a fantastic game, as he had 14 carries for 110 yards and a touchdown against the Steelers. The Broncos will look to continue this balanced offensive attack against a Bengals team that is one of the worst defenses in the NFL.

Cincinnati Bengals Offense

The Cincinnati Bengals were unable to overcome the Cleveland Browns last week, as they lost their starting QB Andy Dalton for the rest of the season due to a thumb injury. QB Jeff Driskel filled in his place, as he completed 17 out of 29 pass attempts for 155 yards and a touchdown in the loss to the Browns. The Bengals did not focus too much on running the football, despite RB Joe Mixon rushing for 89 yards on 14 carries against the Browns. Mixon also played a role in the passing game, as he caught seven passes for 66 yards. The Bengals will need Mixon to continue to remain as the focal point of the offense with the absence of Andy Dalton for the rest of the season.

Denver Broncos Defense

The Denver Broncos defense gave up over 450 passing yards but still defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers at home. The Broncos will have a much easier test against a Bengals team that will be without their starting quarterback for the rest of the season. However, the Broncos defense cannot afford to overlook the Bengals, as any team always has a chance to win in the NFL. The Broncos are ranked 25th in the NFL in offensive yards allowed per game but have an opportunity to improve upon those numbers against the Bengals.

Cincinnati Bengals Defense

The Cincinnati Bengals defense struggled to stop the Cleveland Browns last week, as they gave up 35 points, which included four passing touchdowns. The Bengals were unable to apply in pressure to the quarterback, as they recorded no sacks and did not force any interceptions. The Bengals are ranked last in the NFL in offensive yards allowed per game and will need everyone to play much better if they hope to overcome a resurgent Broncos team.

Denver Broncos Special Teams

Brandon McManus made his only field goal attempt, while also connecting on all three of his extra point attempts against the Steelers. Colby Wadman had to punt six times, and the Broncos will hope to have better success on getting in scoring position and limiting his punting opportunities.

Cincinnati Bengals Special Teams

Randy Bullock did not have a chance to attempt any field goals but only made two out of three of his extra point attempts. Bullock will need to limit his mistakes if they hope to have a chance to defeat the Broncos this week. Kevin Huber only had to punt twice against the Browns, as he averaged almost 50 yards per punt.

Key Injuries

The Denver Broncos lost TE Jeff Heuerman for the remainder of the season due to three broken ribs. The Cincinnati Bengals lost QB Andy Dalton to a thumb injury, and he will not be available for the rest of the season. Bengals WR A.J. Green has also been unavailable due to a toe injury, but he is hopeful to return against the Broncos.
