Bayern Munich host Werder Bremen in a crucial Bundesliga clash on Saturday, kicking off at 3:30pm local time at the Allianz Arena. The hosts need to continue their winning streak to secure the league title, with the visitors in excellent form themselves, as they hope to claim a European spot.

Home Team: Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich have had patchy spots throughout the season in terms of their form, but it appears they have left their most confident and dominant performances for the end of the season, when it really matters. Following that 5-0 demolition of Borussia Dortmund, they went to the top of the table, putting the destiny of the championships in their own hands.

They followed up that success with another victory this past weekend against Fortuna Dusseldorf, winning 4-1 in a completely prevailing and controlled performance. Kingsley Coman was at his sparkling best as he scored a brace to set Bayern Munich up on their way.

Bayern Munich are simply a goal scoring machine at the moment, as they have scored 5 or 6 goals in their last four home matches in the German Cup and league, as well as being prolific on the road. At this rate, Bayern Munich don’t look like slipping up and another title beckons.

Away Team: Werder Bremen

Werder Bremen’s average campaign last season, and their start to this one is certainly a thing of the past, as their form in the 2nd half of this season season has been terrific. Had they started the same way, they could be gunning for a Champions League spot, but that may be out of their hands at the moment.

With 5 games left to go, and 15 points to play for, overturning a 6-point gap may be a tough ask, especially as they have this colossal task to come on Saturday. However, a Europa League qualification spot is certainly within touching distance, and their form would suggest they had a reasonable chance of obtaining it.

Last weekend, Werder Bremen got a narrow victory against Freiburg, with unlikely hero Theodor Gebre Selassie, the right-back, getting the winner. Werder Bremen would arguably see next week’s cup semi-final against Bayern Munich as a more important match, but would welcome the opportunity to get some bonus points here, and wouldn’t want their 2019 unbeaten run to come to an end.
