It’s a top against bottom clash in Bundesliga as Bayern Munich host Hannover 96 on Saturday, kicking off at 3:30pm local time in Germany. The hosts are just seven points away from the title, whereas the visitors need to win to keep their incredibly slim chances of survival alive.

Home Team: Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich may have thought they had already won the title going into their recent match against 17th position Nuremberg. Borussia Dortmund had imploded the day before in their derby with Schalke, so a win for Bayern Munich would have taken them 4 points ahead with 9 left to play for.

However, Bayern Munich drew at Nuremberg and were one kick away from losing the match. Number 2 goalkeeper Sven Ulreich had saved a last minute penalty to give Bayern Munich a point in a game they were trailing in for almost 30 minutes. Bayern Munich extended their lead at the top of the table to just 2 points, meaning the title is far from won just yet.

Just as against Nuremberg, Bayern Munich will be overwhelming favourites heading into this match, but will have to warn against complacency. Otherwise, it may be conceivable that they bottle the title which has been in their hands for the last couple of months.

Away Team: Hannover 96

Hannover 96 are in complete danger of being relegated, and any defeat here partnered with Stuttgart getting a point or more, would confirm their status as a 2nd tier team next season. In their last outing, they were able to beat Mainz 1-0 at home, just their 4th win all season to give them a glimmer of hope.

Realistically, they’ll need to win their remaining three games, including this titanic task at the Allianz Arena, in order to stay up – and unfortunately that just won’t be happening. Hannover’s biggest troubles this season is their away form, with them not being able to register an away win in the entire season.

Wouldn’t this be the most fantastic way to win your first away game of this campaign?

Head to Head

It would come as no surprise that Bayern Munich are utterly dominant in this fixture, as they have won the last 13 meetings between the two sides in all competitions, home and away. In 10 of those fixtures, they have scored at least 3 goals, with Hannover’s ‘best loss’ coming in a 1-0 home defeat back in 2015.

Hannover did have joy back in 2011, as they beat Bayern Munich twice in that calendar year in two different seasons – both matches were at home. At Bayern Munich, Hannover have won just once in the last 50 years, and that came in the 2006/2007 season with a 1-0 score line.

Predictions and Betting Tips

Bayern Munich are dead-certs to win this game at 1/33, with the visitors priced at 40/1. For Hannover to get an unlikely point, they are at 14/1. It’s one of the most one-sided fixtures I have commented on this season, and it’s hard to see an upset occur in this match.

The gulf of quality between the two sides is staggering, and Bayern’s home record is relentless. I would predict a home 5-0 win at 7/1.

For goal scorer trebles, you can back the front free of Serge Gnabry, Kingsley Coman and Robert Lewandowski to score in the game at 7/2. To boost odds on a Bayern Munich win, you can hope that they win both halves (4/9), score 4+ goals (8/15), or win with a clean sheet at 8/15.

Finally, if you are feeling extra lucky, you can back the visitors in some capacity, by betting on them to being drawing at half time (10/3), or even be leading at the interval at a generous 16/1.
