The Bundesliga season climaxes on Saturday, and Bayern Munich are close to winning their 7th consecutive title, if they are to avoid defeat to Frankfurt. The match kicks off at the Allianz Arena at 3:30pm local time in Germany.

Home Team: Bayern Munich

It’s not been a vintage season by Bayern Munich, and many of their ardent fans would be the first to confess that they have had greater teams in the past. However, they are still on the verge of completing a German Cup double in Niko Kovac’s first season in charge of the club.

Last weekend, they drew at 3rd place Leipzig, and coupled with Dortmund’s win against Fortuna, the title race will go to the final day. Two points separate the top, and with Bayern Munich having a far better goal difference, just a draw will suffice for them. Club legends Arjen Robben and Frank Ribery will play their last ever Bundesliga match, but due to the importance of the fixture, you shouldn’t expect to see them unless Bayern Munich are coasting.

All Bayern Munich need to do is make sure that they don’t lose, which has only happened twice at home all season – to Liverpool in the Champions League, and Borussia Monchengladbach back in October.

Can Bayern finally get over the line in a compelling title race?

Away Team: Eintracht Frankfurt

Whilst Bayern Munich fans are full of excitement with the chance of winning two trophies to win in a week, Frankfurt have the complete contrast of emotions. Just over a week ago, Frankfurt were favourites to finish in the top four places to be in next season’s Champions League – a huge achievement for them.

However, a 6-1 devastating loss to Bayer Leverkusen, followed by a humbling 2-0 home loss to Mainz has put them from 4th to 6th. Now, if they were to expectedly lose to Bayern Munich, they could miss out on Europe altogether! In the midst of all that, they were also narrowly defeated by Chelsea in the 2nd leg of their Europa League semi-final tie on penalties.

Can Frankfurt pick themselves up and go one more time this season and cement a Europa League spot, or snatch a Champions League place? It’s all to play for.

Head to Head

Bayern Munich couldn’t have wished for a better fixture to finish their season on, as they have an incredibly strong record against Frankfurt – except in the month of May.

Admittedly, they have only played each other once in May in the last 28 years, but that match occurred last year in the German Cup final, where Niko Kovac’s Frankfurt beat Bayern Munich 3-1. Otherwise, Bayern Munich are dominant, having beaten Frankfurt 5-0, in the German Super Cup, and 3-0 in the reverse league fixture already this season.

On top of that, Bayern Munich have won 12 of the last 15 meetings, and haven’t lost at home to Frankfurt since the year 2000.

Predictions and Betting Tips

Bayern Munich are at 2/7 to win the match, or to secure the title with a draw at 5/1. Frankfurt are at 17/2 to spoil the party. In terms of ability, Frankfurt shouldn’t be underestimated in this clash, but I cannot see Bayern Munich throwing away the title in such a catastrophic fashion.

I expect them to get a commanding 2-0 victory here on the final day, priced at 10/1. If Frankfurt’s Luka Jovic can score two hat-tricks, then he may overtake Robert Lewandowski at the league’s top scorer, but I expect the Polish international to finish the season with a brace at 7/2.

To increase odds on a Bayern win, you can back them to win to nil at 17/10, win both halves at 13/10 or even score 4+ goals at 6/4.

Finally, if you are brave, and have a feeling Dortmund can win the title thanks to Frankfurt, you can back the visitors to win here by the same score line they beat Bayern Munich last season – 3-1 at 50/1.
